On Saturday 12th November Holmes Chapel Community Centre was officially opened to the public by Paralympic Gold Medalists Sophie Thornhill and Megan Giglia.

David Savage, Chairman of the Parish Council says “I never thought I would meet an Olympic Gold medalist, so to meet two is a great honour. I would personally like to thank you two for making my day and for also agreeing to come and open this new centre for us and taking the time to come.”

The open day was an opportunity for Everybody Sport and Recreation in Partnership with Holmes Chapel Parish Council to thank everybody involved in the project and to share this momentous open day with the community and the loyal customers at Holmes chapel community centre with Megan Giglia and Sophie Thornhill.

Andrew Kolker, Chairman of Everybody Sport and Recreation says “The Holmes Chapel Community Centre is a shining example of what can be achieved by an excellent partnership between an ambitious Parish Council and the Leisure Trust.

He continues “I would like to thank the people of Holmes Chapel, without their faith in the Parish Council and without their patience, their support this community centre would never have been started let alone got to where it is today.”

Holmes Chapel Community Centre now provides, community and function rooms which are available to hire for a range of meetings, conferences, social events and much more. Also available is the Taste for Life Cafe Bar and the Everybody Academy Training Suite.

“Within the next few years we are going to have a significant increase in the population, so at least we have a new facility whereby people who are moving into the village, will have somewhere to go, somewhere to relax.” Says David Savage.

The open day was a great success with a range of activities available for the whole family, such as smoothie making, paint bikes, save a life taster sessions provided by the Everybody Academy, refreshments and catering from Taste for Life and stalls which were provided by the local community.
