New Taste for Life Partnership launches at Jubilee 2

The community café at Newcastle’s Jubilee 2 is being relaunched next month (May), under a unique partnership between the Borough Council and Cheshire-based leisure charity, Everybody Sport & Recreation.

All profits made from the new café will be reinvested into the local community, split equally between improvements in facilities and public sports grants; a number of local employment opportunities will also be created at the café .

The partnership will work together to refurbish the space ready for its reopening in May, to coincide with the Borough’s ‘Festival of Sport’ celebrations.

Andrew Arnott, Sport & Active Lifestyles Manager at Newcastle Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with an experienced leisure operator, in order to bring our whole range of facilities at Jubilee 2 back into full use. The café provides important social aspects of sport and leisure for customers, and our teaming up with Everybody Sport & Recreation also means a direct benefit for local sports.”

Thomas Barton, Director of People & Growth at Everybody Sport & Recreation added, “We look forward to working in partnership with the Council to create a fresh new ‘Taste for Life’ café at Jubilee2. As a charity established to support leisure opportunities we will be working hard to maximise the customer experience in the café and then re-invest into the site and local community over the coming years”.
