UNLIMITED FREE SWIMMING FOR CHILDREN LEARNING TO SWIM WITH EVERYBODY SPORT AND RECREATION
Everybody Sport and Recreation (www.everybody.org.uk) has launched in January a new Learn to Swim Scheme ‘Everybody Swim’ which provides unlimited free public swimming sessions for all children enrolled on swimming lessons*.
The new initiative has been launched by the charitable trust to encourage families to swim regularly at their local leisure centre and help children to improve on their swimming technique to progress through the Learn to Swim stages.
“This is a great opportunity to bring the local community together through swimming. In offering free swimming to those enrolled in our lessons we are not only reducing barriers to participation but we are providing a platform for a stronger swimming community, by making swimming more accessible we are allowing children to improve the essential life skill that is swimming.
“We envisage that after developing sound basic swimming techniques with ‘Everybody SWIM’, all swimmers will progress on to a variety of swimming pathways including one of the many swimming clubs that we are working with at our centres, and build towards competitive club swimming and who knows, even the Olympics in years to come!!” Kris Sankey, Aquatics Manager, Everybody Sport and Recreation
The Trust has also restructured the swimming team to now include an Aquatics Manager and dedicated Area Aquatics leads to coordinate Everybody Swim across the organisation.
Kris Sankey, Aquatics Manager continued, “This is an exciting time for Everybody Sport & Recreation within the aquatics industry, the recent investment is certain to strengthen our already popular provision of swimming lessons – we will now be able to significantly grow and develop this aspect of our provision in order to provide an excellent experience for any swimmers progressing through our schemes.”
Everybody Swim proudly deliver the ASA Learn to Swim Pathway. This all- inclusive programme takes the non-swimmer from his or her first splash to developing confidence and competence in the water, right through to competitive swimming.
Each lesson will follow the ASA framework, this is a tried and tested method which has been approved by the National Governing Body of swimming, the ASA.
Through Everybody’s HomePortal, parents can check their child’s progress online and teachers can upload updates and attendance to their hand held devices. This allows parents to track their child’s progress from the comfort of their own home.
