CBA-Logo-2016_FINALISTThe awards are described as a celebration of excellence, and a salute to the companies and business leaders and teams who have demonstrated the foresight to drive their business – and the region – forward. The awards have been running over twelve years and will this year be held at Chester Cathedral on Friday 7th October.

The winning business for the Business of the Year category will be able to demonstrate all round business excellence, financial performance, business strategy and sound future plans. Whilst the Employer of the Year category is looking for the employers who can best demonstrate how their leadership and human resource policies support staff development, engagement and satisfaction creating a positive and supportive workplace with a well motivated and well trained team.  The winner of this award will be more than just a good company to work for, their culture will deliver commercial results and they will be an inspiration to other businesses.

Andrew Kolker, Chairman at Everybody Sport and Recreation commented, ‘Since the launch of the Trust in May 2014 we have worked hard to create a sustainable organisation which has made a positive impact on our community, helping change lives through healthy recreation. Being shortlisted for the Cheshire Business Awards for both Business and Employer of the Year is a fantastic achievement that we are very proud of.’

Everybody Sport and Recreation was formed in May 2014 and is responsible for the day to day management of a range of leisure facilities and leisure development activity on behalf of Cheshire East Council. The leisure centres provide programmes and activities that contribute enormously to the social, educational and economic life of the community and to the physical and mental health and wellbeing of local people.

As part of the strategic aims set out by the Trust, investment has also been made into the development of employees which included the launch of the Everybody Academy; a dedicated training arm which helps to ‘Develop our people to be the best’.

Andrew continued, ‘During our first year we sought to lay solid foundations for our future. Building on that now, our second year has been focussed on greater investment and creating more opportunities for everyone to participate in leisure and recreation – from every walk of life, whatever their age or ability. We are looking forward to joining other finalists on the evening of the awards and will be eagerly awaiting the news of the winners.’
