57 Year Old Cath Loses 4 Stone And Climbs Kilimanjaro Since Becoming A Member Of Crewe Lifestyle Centre!
Cath became a member at Crewe Lifestyle Centre in 2016 and through becoming more active and setting herself challenges along the way, she has lost an incredible 4 stone.
Cath’s journey began by her swimming a few times a week before eventually being encouraged by a friend to try some group fitness classes. The more classes she tried, the more weight she lost, the fitter she got and the more people she met. She explained, “before I knew it I was exercising 3 times a week and enjoying it, not just the exercise but the camaraderie of the different groups too.”
Cath’s first most memorable achievement on her journey to fitness was being able to do a sit up. From that point, she began wanting to challenge herself more and more through completing a Pretty Muddy 5k event, adding more classes to her weekly workout schedule and signing up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
By this point, Cath had already lost a phenomenal 4 stone. “It took 2 years for all the weight to come off and it’s made me 20 years younger.” Says Cath.
To aid Cath’s training for Kilimanjaro, she undertook personal training sessions with Crewe Lifestyle Centre Instructor, Sam and added Les Mills Grit classes, early morning swims and regular uphill dog walking to her training. “I cannot thank the class instructors Helen, Sam, Rae and the staff at everybody gym enough for giving me my life back.”
As a result of Cath’s training, she managed to complete her Kilimanjaro climb in an impressive 10 and a half hours!
“To anyone reading my story who is thinking of starting their fitness journey I would say do it, make sure you try as many different classes as you can and work at your level. If you want to walk and step do so you don’t have to bounce and jump that’s absolutely fine. It’s amazing what a little bit of exercise can do”
