Elworth Pre-school Group a charity run pre-school for ages 2-5 years near Sandbach, was awarded £154.62 by the Everybody Foundation to purchase healthy eating and physical activity equipment to allow the children to be taught about these key principles from a young age.
The pre-school takes care of 30-40 children and relies on community support, fundraising and grants to improve it’s services and equipment.
The grant from the Everybody Foundation was used to purchase ‘movement kit’ which included a selection of sensory items such as bean bags, parachutes, bells and ribbon rings that could be used to help children improve their coordination through dance and movement.
A healthy eating kit was also purchased which included interactive portion plates and jigsaws to teach children about different food groups and how to eat more healthy.
Kirsten Brookes, Committee Chair and a parent at Elworth Pre-School put forward the grant nomination and says it has been vital to educate children in eating the rights foods.
Kirsten comments, “It means so much to receive this grant funding from the everybody Foundation. We try to keep our fees as affordable as possible to encourage more families to come to us which means we rely on government funding and fundraising to renew our equiptment and toys. These active and healthy eating items are vital to give our children the best possible start in life and experience in our pre-school.”
She continues, “The pre-school is focused on learning through free play as much as possible and this grant has helped us to make getting active and eating healthy fun!”
The Everybody Foundation, is a charity which helps to fund individuals and groups who promote active and healthy lifestyles in Cheshire East. So far the charity has awarded over £4000 in 2017/18.
Peter Hartwell, Everybody Foundation Chairman commented, “We are very proud to have been able to award over £4000 this year to fund community groups and young athletes.
