Poynton Disabled Swim has recently been awarded a donation from the Waitrose Green Disk, Community Matters scheme. The session, ran by Poynton Leisure Centre have been given an amazing £528 in funding. Doreen – who runs the session and has done for 30 years is delighted, with the funding being used for a range of new equipment that will improve the session greatly and allow her to continue to support those who attend.
The private session provides exercise, socialisation and fun for over 30 local disabled residents, who come together once a week at the Leisure Centre’s pool. Some of those who attend the session have been coming for many years and are grateful for the hard work Doreen and the centre do to ensure the session continues to be available.
Poynton Leisure Centre and Doreen continue to focus on ensuring that the session remains free for all who attend, and this funding will support this.
Leah, from Poynton’s branch of Waitrose, commented that it is one of the biggest amount of donations they have seen, and the support from customers was impressive.
Everybody Leisure are delighted that the session has received well deserved funding and are now able to develop the session to make it even better for the local residents.
The disabled swim session runs at Poynton Leisure Centre on Mondays from 12.30 to 13.30.
