A Balanced Lifestyle:
The Temptations of Christmas

Do you find it hard to balance your festive eating and drinking with staying active over the Christmas holidays?

In this blog, we’ll talk through the annual festive temptations we all face when it comes to December, the mouthwatering food and drink that is waved in front of our faces, when we’re supposed to be thinking about ‘new years resolutions’…and all that malarkey.

Finding a balance between exercising and indulging ourselves is key in life, especially when it comes to maintaining a healthy, happy lifestyle. This Christmas period, we should all be putting our own health and fitness first whatever that looks like, hitting the gym, getting involved in a group fitness class or putting time aside to get some swimming lengths under your belt, utilising your fitness membership. Staying active is important, but it’s also equally ok to treat yourself with some Christmas food festivities.

Relax and Unwind *

This is what the Christmas period is all about right? We’ve all been waiting for this time of the year, since the beginning of December we’ve been opening windows filled with chocolate, singing along to festive radio tunes, (well attempting) and putting our hands in endless amounts of tubs of chocolate. The point being, it’s okay to indulge yourself in those festive flavours, with this in mind, Everybody Taste for Life cafes have an all new ‘Taste of Christmas’ menu! After all, festive food has a way of bringing people together and positively impacting our overall well-being. (Source: How To Stay Fit And Healthy During The Christmas Period)

Richard Jobson, Senior Catering & Hospitality Manager at Everybody shared:

“We have released our Taste of Christmas menu in six of our Taste for Life cafes across Cheshire East this December. Enjoy every sip and add a hint of Christmas to your hot drinks by including one of our syrups: Caramel, Hazelnut, Cinnamon or try our NEW Festive Hot chocolate or Festive Latte. Get into the full Christmas spirit and enjoy every mouthful of our Festive Baguette, Festive Panini or Turkey Bloomer. Every warm welcome awaits you this Christmas at Taste for Life. What will you be trying first?”

Staying on Track

Whilst we all love to eat our own body weight in food this Christmas, it’s just as healthy to prioritise your activity levels and all round fitness. To make time for exercise amidst the holiday cheer can be challenging for us all, but a great motivator is to think about that moment when you’ve secured an amazing gym workout, smashed an energetic group fitness class or kicked your way through a strenuous swimming session. We all know that feeling when we walk out the doors of the leisure centre…a great sense of productivity and self-accomplishment. Discovering ways to remain active will contribute to achieving a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle.

Everybody’s top 5 ways to stay motivated:

  1. Connect with your Health & Fitness Advisor or Personal Trainer – Activation Sessions
  2. Workout with a partner, friend and family member
  3. Set some early January goals – Get ahead of 2024!
  4. Benefit from your gym fitness technology – Technogym Equipment
  5. Have fun with your fitness, mix it up! – GymSwimGroup FitnessPlay Sports

To conclude, a balanced lifestyle means enjoying the best of both worlds – indulging in tasty holiday treats while also staying committed to your health and fitness goals. So go ahead, savor those Christmas goodies guilt-free, but don’t forget to lace up your trainers, fill those water bottles and keep up with your fitness routine this December too.
