The Everybody Junior Awards are for sporting stars, 5-15 years old, in the Cheshire East region.

Nominee’s must have a connection with Cheshire East and achievements must be between 9th October 2022 – 18th October 2023.

We look forward to receiving your nomination!

2023 Award Categories

Active Family of the Year

A family that show immense dedication to remaining healthy and active together within the past 12 months.

Rising Swim Star

A swimmer participating in the Everybody Swim programme who always listens to instructions, is enthusiastic to achieve, and gifted in the water. They also support other learners in the group and the swimming teacher too.

Sports Personality 5-8 years

Someone aged 5-8 years who has competed and achieving at local, regional or national level in a sport or several sports, shown an ability to lead by example and support others.

Sports Personality 9-11 years

Someone aged 9-11 years who has competed and achieving at local, regional or national level in a sport or several sports, shown an ability to lead by example and support others.

Sports Personality 12-15 years- NEW CATEGORY TO 2023!

Someone aged 12-15 years who has competed and achieving at local, regional or national level in a sport or several sports, shown an ability to lead by example and support others.

Everybody Junior Member of the Year

An Everybody member who has shown great dedication to keeping healthy and active.

Unsung Junior Hero Award

Someone who has given their time to a local sports club or community group, ensuring that they can provide their services to as many people as possible.

2022 Winners: 

Family of the Year: Frost Family, from Crewe

The whole family is engaged in every sport around Cheshire. With 5 children all in sports up to National level, mum is not only the taxi driver but volunteers to coach in a dance troupe and as a pre-school coach for gymnastics. Thea Frost became seriously ill and lost all ability to co- ordinate. She had achieved British medals at gymnastics and fought back this year to become part of the British representative team.

Tirana Frost achieved high level medals at British Championships and although took time away she has now returned to gymnastics. Tirana is building her levels up in the club and surpassing so many goals she set herself but also only at the age of 13 gives over 5 hours voluntary work to the club, coaching the next generation of future stars.

John Frost is a great boxer and is about to compete in his first bout. He trains 3 times a week at LSGCA gymnastics club.

Rising Swim Star: Fergus Kellett, 5 years old from Knutsford

Fergus passed the Stage 3 Learn to Swim Award on the 6 June 2022 and now is working towards achieving the Stage 4 Learn to Swim Award. Fergus swims in the Everybody Swim Scheme at Knutsford Leisure Centre. 

His attitude towards learning is excellent he listens carefully to instructions and performs the Swimming outcomes to the best of his ability. He is a naturally good swimmer on both his front and back and the progress that he has made since starting lessons is phenomenal.

Sports Personality 5-8 years: Thea Heys, 8 years old from Haslington

Thea started her Karate journey at just 4 years old in October 2018, gaining her first belt in July 2019. She has won medals at National and International level and is due to take her black belt in March next year at 8 years old. Thea took to Karate naturally and loved training and making new friends along the way.

Thea gained a bronze medal at the English Karate Academy and has gone on to gain a silver medal internationally and most recently Gold at The English Karate Academy.

Sports Personality 9-11 years- Esme Roberts, 11 years old from Holmes Chapel

Esme’s love of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) started when her Mum was looking for a ladies boxing class. The class she found was held at Warriors Martial Arts in Congleton and during the women’s class, they held a children’s BJJ class at the same time. 

Esme displays all the qualities that BJJ encompasses – strength, power, flexibility, pressure, sensitivity, balance, coordination, and endurance and a commitment to the training process. Esme has an amazing competition record over the past 3 years and is currently National and World Champion, having won many events over the summer.

Everybody Junior Member of the Year- Nathaniel Bird, 10 years old from Handforth

Nathan participates in the Everybody Learn to Swim Scheme and is currently in stage 7.

Nathan started Taekwondo when he was just 4 years old. He has trained hard, week in and out to get where he is today, a black belt at the age of 10 years old. Nathan helps to train others who are of lower grades and has competed in local competitions throughout his 6 years in Taekwondo, winning various medals for his Pattern work.

He also took on a second dance class, which was a hip hop dance class that he started in September 2021 and within 3 months had his first dance exam at which he scored 96 out of 100!
