Community Connector Volunteer

Be a friendly face. Help people feel they belong.

Community Connector Volunteers help people feel welcome, supported and confident when attending activities at Everybody Health & Leisure. Sometimes it’s a warm hello, sometimes it’s a reassuring chat – but it always makes a difference.

As a Community Connector Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping people feel comfortable and confident when they take part in activities at our centres.

For some people, joining an activity can feel daunting. Your support, encouragement and friendly presence can be the difference between someone giving it a go – or walking away. You don’t need specialist skills or experience. Just kindness, patience and a willingness to help others feel at ease.

What does a Community Connector Volunteer do?

Community Connector Volunteers support participants before, during and after activities, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

You may help by:

  • Welcoming people as they arrive
  • Offering reassurance and encouragement
  • Helping participants feel confident joining in
  • Supporting social connection and inclusion
  • Being a friendly, approachable presence in the centre

You’ll work alongside trained staff and volunteers, with guidance and support throughout.

This role is ideal if you:

  • Enjoy meeting and talking to people
  • Like helping others feel comfortable and supported

You don’t need previous volunteering or work experience. We’re more interested in who you are than what you’ve done before.

We’ll make sure you feel confident and supported in your role.

You’ll receive:

  • Ongoing support while volunteering
  • Any relevant role‑specific training

Some Community Connector roles may require references or a DBS check (for volunteers aged 16+). We’ll guide you through this if needed.

What you’ll gain from volunteering

Volunteering as a Community Connector can help you:

  • Build confidence and communication skills
  • Gain experience in a people focused role
  • Meet new people and make friends
  • Feel more connected to your community
  • Explore future volunteering, training or career opportunities

Many Community Connector Volunteers go on to other roles with Everybody – but volunteering is just as valuable on its own.
