Everybody Volunteers reach 28,000 hour milestone ahead of National Volunteers Week

#EveryHourCounts

Everybody Sport and Recreation is making tributes to their volunteers after achieving a target of 28,000 volunteer hours since launch of the Health and Wellbeing Charity in May 2014.

June 1st marked the start of National Volunteers Week 2018, and also the launch of Everybody Sport and Recreation’s #EveryHourCounts pledge campaign which supports volunteers in making valuable contributions to Cheshire East communities with a range of volunteer roles and opportunities.

In May 2014, Everybody set a target to reach 40,000 volunteer hours by 2020 and this year has managed to hit over 28,000 hours! The new #EveryHourCounts pledge is encouraging exsiting and new volunteers to contribute at least 1 hour to support activities and programmes to help people in Cheshire East get active and healthy.

Lee Malkin, Sports Development Manager at Everybody Sport and Recreation commented, “National Volunteers Week is an opportunity for us to thank all our volunteers for the incredible dedication they have shown to supporting individuals, families, groups and clubs in Cheshire.”

He continued, “Our #EveryHourCounts campaign focusses on the idea that just 1 hour of volunteering can make a huge difference. Volunteering is rewarding not just for the volunteer but for the people they are working with. Some of our sessions and activities would not be successful without the support of our volunteers.”

Everybody Sport and Recreation has a variety of volunteering roles available including Community Sports, Holiday Programmes and Events, Office Administration & Programme Management, Disability & Inclusion,  Nordic Walking & Orienteering, Leisure Facilities (health and fitness advisors, lifeguards and reception roles) as well as this, external volunteer opportunities through local and regional partners.

Tom Paterson, Walking Football Volunteer
