Nominations are being sought as Everybody prepares to unveil its sporting stars of 2014.
The new organisation running leisure facilities across Cheshire East is to host a special awards evening in November.
Athletes, clubs, coaches, schools and volunteers will be honoured on the evening which will include a celebrity guest speaker.
It’s the second major event to be staged by Everybody – the charitable organisation which took over leisure provision from Cheshire East Council earlier this year.
A Commonwealth Games Baton Relay attracted more than 10,000 people to Congleton Park in May.
Everybody chairman Andrew Kolker said:
“Cheshire East has a fantastic range of talented athletes who compete on a local and national level.
“The evening will pay tribute to their success while recognising those unsung heroes who work hard behind the scenes to develop sport across the area.”
The Oscars-style evening will see awards presented to inspirational people in the categories of Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Young Sports Achiever, Disabled Sports Achiever, Sports Personality and Special Recognition.
Awards will also go to the top club, primary school, secondary school and special school.
The event, previously organised by Cheshire East Council, is now in its 5th year.
Organisers at Everybody expect around 200 people will attend the evening at Cranage Hall, near Holmes Chapel on November 20. Tickets will be available in October.
He added:
“We want to hear about those people who dedicate a lot of time to excelling in their chosen sport or guiding others towards their dreams. Nominations are open now.”
