About the qualification

This is a standalone qualification which enables teachers to independently plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate swimming lessons for children and adults.

This course is for those ready to qualify as independent Swimming Teachers and lead their own lessons.

What you’ll learn

  • Responsibilities and professional role of a Swimming Teacher
  • Scientific principles of swimming and skill development
  • Teaching and refining core aquatic skills and all four strokes
  • Identifying and correcting common swimming faults
  • Using varied teaching methods, equipment and progressive learning
  • Planning and delivering inclusive lessons, including SEND adaptations
  • Class management, communication, behaviour management and assessment
  • Differences between National Curriculum swimming and Learn to Swim lessons

Format & assessment

Practical and theory-based training including poolside delivery, lesson planning and assessment.

Prerequisites

  • Must be 16+ at course start
