Trevor finds exercise helps him recover from a quadruple heart bypass

Holly Brough, Health Specialist Fitness Instructor at Everybody Health and Leisure with member Trevor Talbot

Everybody member Trevor Talbot from Congleton has completing our 12-week Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation after having a quadruple heart bypass and being hospitalised for 14 weeks.

“I had lost muscle mass, was walking very slow and only short distances and my balance had suffered during this time.

I needed to get my muscle mass back and especially my balance. I completed the initial 3 months under the guidance of Holly, and my walking has improved greatly and balance is coming along.”

Trevor attended our Multi Rehabilitation Exercise Classes on a Monday and Friday as well as going to the gym on his own when he could not make the classes.

“I feel in better general health now than when I stared the programme and will continue to carry on the routines in the gym, as I have joined the leisure centre.”

Trevor shares, it’s not only the exercise benefits but the social side of the classes too

“It is good to talk to other people on the programme who have been through the same problems and see how they have or are coping. Holly and team were very supportive and they will continue to help me if required, you will never be left to sink.”

Trevor’s coach Holly shared:

“I first met Trevor during his phase 3 cardiac rehabilitation training, which we run in partnership with the NHS.

Here Trevor did really well at building up his initial fitness whilst under the support and guidance of myself and the NHS team, working hard at his programme and was able to progress through this really well.

After seeing the benefits, Trevor moved on to our 12-week phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme. Upon his initial assessment, we set the goals for Trevor to be able to improve his walking ability and balance, improve strength to help with joint pain and to increase activity levels to improve and maintain general fitness to manage his heart condition.

By the end of the 12 weeks Trevor has completed all these goals and continues to build on his health and fitness now.
