This qualification will provide the learner with the skills to actively assist and/or support a more qualified teacher in the delivery of school swimming and understand the core principles of the National Curriculum with in the Primary School environment. This is the minimum recommended qualification for assisting in the delivery of school swimming.
Candidates are required to work or volunteer within the primary school swimming programme e.g. school teacher, classroom assistant, learning support staff, nursery nurse, parent, other helpers etc. In addition students involved in initial teacher training may also attend.
Candidates are also required to hold a current CRB/DBS certificate. N.B: It is the responsibility of the schools to ensure that this pre-requisite has been met.
The FUNdamentals of School Swimming course is 6 hours.
