Everybody Volunteers Serve Up a Winning Day Out in Holmes Chapel

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition and cake on the menu as volunteers from Everybody Health & Leisure came together for a fantastic volunteer celebration event at Holmes Chapel Community Centre.

The event was organised to thank volunteers for the time, energy and enthusiasm they give throughout the year, helping people of all ages to live healthier and more active lives across Cheshire East. It also provided an opportunity for volunteers from different programmes and locations to meet, spend time together and celebrate the incredible contribution they make to their communities.

The session began with an introduction to padel, with many volunteers trying the sport for the very first time.
From impressive rallies and friendly competition to spectacular dives and a few slips across the courts, the padel session was filled with fun from start to finish. More importantly, there were plenty of smiles as volunteers enjoyed learning new skills and spending time together outside of their usual volunteering roles.

While the sporting action provided plenty of entertainment, it was the conversations and connections that made the day particularly special. Volunteers had the chance to share experiences, get to know one another and celebrate being part of the wider Everybody team.

Following the padel session, a light-hearted podium presentation recognised the day’s winners before the group headed to the Taste for Life Café for a well-earned coffee and cake. Judging by the empty cake trays, the refreshments proved just as popular as the padel itself.

Keith Rogers, Sports Lead, Youth Participation & Volunteering at Everybody Health & Leisure, said:

“Our volunteers give so much of their time to support others, so it was fantastic to bring everyone together for a day that was simply about enjoying themselves. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the day, with lots of laughter, great conversations and people trying something completely new. Events like this remind us that volunteering is not only about giving back to the community, it’s also about being part of a fantastic team.”

The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the people who make such a positive difference across Cheshire East through volunteering. By bringing volunteers together in a relaxed and enjoyable setting, the day highlighted not only the impact they have on their communities but also the friendships and connections that volunteering can create.

As the event ended, there was one question on everyone’s mind: when is the next one?
