Congleton lifestyle offer frequently asked questions

Why do we want to improve the lifestyle offer?

Cheshire East maintain a number of centres in Congleton providing a wide range of lifestyle services. Congleton leisure centre was built in 1976 and is an example of an ageing asset which costs the council to maintain.  The Councils aim is to improve the quality its wellbeing services for the residents of Congleton and to do this some of the current facilities services need updating and improving.

Where will it be located?

As Cheshire East Council develop an understanding of the needs and aspirations of Congleton residents and talk to their service partners, the best location will become clear. They are working the Town Council and Congleton Partnership to ensure provision aligns with wider town council development.  This will be further informed by consultation surveys.

What facilities will it have?

A typical lifestyle facility can potentially house a number of wellbeing services such as wet and dry leisure, adult and family services, out-reach and community services.  A survey is currently being undertaken to get local people’s views on the outline proposal. Discussions are also underway with potential partners to understand exactly what facilities will be provided.

How will local residents / businesses be kept informed?

The Council will be providing regular press releases as the project develops as well as regularly updating the Congleton Lifestyle webpage. The council can also be contacted via email: [email protected] if you have any further queries.

Will the Centre be easily accessible for people with a disability?

Yes, very much so. All new buildings developed by Cheshire East aim to be ‘all inclusive’ in its services. There will be full disabled access to all services provided and to all areas of any new provision.

When will any new lifestyle offer be open?

If a new lifestyle opportunity is approved, new provision could be available as soon as summer 2016. However, the project is at a very early stage of development and this date is subject to change.
