By Everybody Sport October 15, 2015

On Friday 9th October, Everybody Sport and Recreation proudly received the Sports and Fitness Establishment of the Year at the Heart Safe Awards in Manchester.

“The UK Heart Safe Awards, is the UK’s first nationwide awards competition to celebrate organisations and employers who invest in creatingIMG_4227 Heart Safe environments as well as the acts of individuals who have saved lives while at work or leisure. A Heart Safe environment is one where life-saving equipment – a defibrillator and training are provided for staff or customers so that, should a sudden cardiac arrest occur, people are fully prepared to perform resuscitation and life support immediately.”

The Sport and Fitness Establishment of the Year award “recognises and celebrates a Sports & Fitness establishment that has invested in Heart Safe equipment and training for their staff and customers, and who has continuously invested in life saving training of their staff.”

Peter Hartwell, CEO at Everybody Sport and Recreation commented ‘we are extremely proud to have been recognised at this year’s heart safe gym awards due to the tremendous efforts of our facility staff in dealing with emergency situations within our centres. We have worked very hard to ensure our staff are trained and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed, but also feel confident to work as a team and ensure our customers are safe. ‘He continued, ‘Our Everybody Academy provides training for our staff internally but also for local businesses and our community so we can pass on our expertise and deliver life saving fundamentals to others.’

Richard Roeton, Learning and Development Manager at Everybody says “It is an honour to win this prestigious award and supports the hard work and commitment of Everybody and the Everybody Academy in ensuring that we have not only the right equipment in place but high quality training to ensure our staff can deal with any emergency situation.”

“Judges were impressed by the volume, outreach and sustainability of their programme.  They loved how the holistic approach this organisation has evidence of life-saving and how it’s creating longevity in the community through the launch of their academy”

The Everybody Academy provides a wide range of leisure and related training opportunities offering entry-level qualifications into the leisure industry as well as ongoing training allowing our own workforce and external candidates to maintain their skills and knowledge throughout the year.
