Susan Heathcote was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and the Move More exercise programme changed everything for her. Since starting, Susan has now been attending on a weekly basis and has lost over 1 stone and no longer feels breathless.
With positive reassurance from health care professionals, Susan undertook her treatment plan and was on her way to beating cancer, she was advised to undertake some exercise, as it had been shown in a great number of studies to help improve the side effects of the cancer and treatments.
Susan Explained, “I didn’t want my fitness levels to decline and see the weight go back on. I remember I couldn’t climb stairs, feeling very fatigue and this got me very frustrated.”
She was advised that Everybody Sport and Recreation deliver a Move More exercise programme; a gym based session delivered by a Level 4 Exercise Specialist. Susan booked a consultation with the Lifestyle Coach, who devised a tailored exercise programme.
“I was amazed at the facilities within the Crewe Lifestyle Centre and the personal service received. I enjoy coming to the programme, feeling better in myself and even though it sometimes feels like you can’t do it and struggle, over time you can by taking small steps and attending a specialist support programme.
She continues, sometimes I have days I feel I don’t want to do it, but afterwards I’m so I glad I did for the feeling after. I certainly now deal with problems better and feel less stressed.”
Susan has been coming to the class not only for health reasons, but also enjoys the social benefits which she feels is just as important. She has met new people and looks forward to seeing them each week. She has taken out a membership at the centre and now trains twice a week in the gym and also swims.
Her experience in coming to the Move More class has been really positive. She has found the Lifestyle Coach is a fantastic support, and always there when needed.
“Kevin springs us on through the exercises – nothing is too much trouble. I have become less fatigued by exercising, I have met other people and I enjoy working as a group. The support and guidance from the coach is brilliant.”
