The Everybody Junior Awards 2017, sponsored by Premier Sport and Holmes Chapel Parish Council, took place on Saturday 6th December at Holmes Chapel Community Centre; celebrating the fantastic achievements in sports and activity of the young people and families in Cheshire East.
Almost 100 nominations were submitted prior to the event and almost 90 guests attended. Sophie Coleman hosted the event and everyone took part in several activities after the awards were announced including facepainting, smoothie making, speed bouncing and more.
Junior Member of The Year

Isabella shows exceptional commitment to leading a healthy and active lifestyle by attending weekly swimming lessons, cross country training, brownies and other after school sports sessions. Thats not to mention that she recently has been accepted as a member of Crewe and Nantwich athletics club, completed several charity races and a Duathlon all at the age of 8! Isabella is also mindful of her nutrition by eating healthily and baking sugar free cakes. Her commitment and dedication to health and activity is such to be admired by all, especially at such a young age.

Francesca has been described by her swimming teachers as a ‘joy to teach who always works hard and listens attentively’. She is the youngest in her class at 6 years of age and since joining the Everybody Learn To Swim Scheme only a year ago, has advanced from stage 6, to completing the whole scheme! Francesca’s teachers say that she has fantastic knowledge of every stroke and hope that she will now go on to swim competitively.

Jacob is a phenomenal 10 year old who commits his spare time to playing football for Crewe FC and supporting both his local community, and charity events alongside the club. He is a very keen footballer, and along with being one of the top trainers in his team, Jacob can be regularly seen assisting his coaches at the end of sessions. After attending several charity events and raising money for good causes alongside Crewe FC, Jacob then decided that he wanted to raise money for a charity close to his heart, PSC Support UK. He recruited close to 40 of his team mates and they all took on the extremely muddy and wet, Tough Mudder’s ‘Mini Mudder’ obstacle course with the ambitious target of raising £1000. All team members completed the course helping each other through the obstacle course and across the finish line and with their support, Jacob ended up raising £2000!

The Painter Family’s journey into fitness began in 2016 when Becky decided that she wanted to lead a more healthy lifestyle and undertook personal training sessions. After hearing about how much Becky was enjoying her sessions, Jim then joined the gym too and they are both now found regularly using the gym, pools and classes throughout several of our Everybody centres. Becky and Jim then introduced Abigail and Leo through play schemes and other children’s sessions. Becky is seen daily either in the gym, pool or fitness class. Jim loves classes and attends these regularly. Abigail and Leo both learnt to swim and attend athletics and football sessions too. Not only do the Painter family set a fantastic example to other families about leading a healthy lifestyle, but they actively encourage people to come to the gym with them and change their lifestyle too.

At just 8 years old, Arthur found himself upset by television adverts that explained that children in areas of poverty have to drink dirty water and that some species of animals are endangered. Inspired by a family friend who had recently ran a marathon to raise money for charity, Arthur then decided that he wanted to do the same for these causes. Being only 8 years of age, Arthur’s parents advised that he should complete a series of runs until he had ran the length of a marathon. The adverts Arthur had watched explained that £15 would help provide clean water for a child and that £25 would pay a park ranger to look after endangered animals for 10 days so based on those facts, and that he was running 43.3km, Arthur set himself a target of raising £43. he then completed a series of 9 runs in 1 month and after sharing his inspirational story with as many people as possible, raised a phenomenal £506.25!

Niamh competes in Ballroom, Latin American and Freestyle dance all at the age of 7. She also has a passion for swimming and is looking forward to progressing to a higher competitive level in that too. Taking part in sporting activities is a physical challenge for Niamh and the time and dedication she puts in to her training in order to be able to take part is truly admirable.

For the last four years, Mia has competed in snowboarding at the outdoor championships in the apps and has been crowned outdoor freestyle, boarder cross and half pipechampion! This year, Mia has pushed herself further and at the outdoor championships in Switzerland, she took the under 12 champion title and scored so well, that she placed in the overall women’s finals. Infant, she came 4th overall and achieved bronze for half pipe behind our GB winter Olympians Aimee Fuller and Lesley McKenna at just aged 10! Mia has now been approached by team GB’s park and pipe coaches and invited to join their development programme, the youngest athlete ever the achieve this.
