Everybody Health and Leisure would like to congratulate Joan and Ken Emberton who have successfully completed Everybody’s 12-week Exercise Referral Programme at Crewe Lifestyle Centre. The couple were referred by their GP to the scheme and to use exercise to benefit and improve their health conditions, Joan having suffered a stroke along with arthritis and Ken diagnosed with COPD and degenerative spinal pain.

Prior to starting the programme their activity levels were low which meant they found walking, climbing stairs and general day to day activities, such as housework and gardening, a constant struggle.

Specialist Health Advisor Rachel Evans at Everybody Health and Leisure shared:

“It has been a real pleasure working with Joan and Ken over the past 12 weeks, what they have achieved is fantastic. Their successes have been reached through hard work and total commitment in regularly attending the gym, weekly Move to Improve and Good Boost exercise classes. They have become an integral part of each class and always put a smile on people’s faces.”

Joan has seen her strength and stamina improve which has reduced her arthritic pain and enabling her to walk further and climb stairs without needing to have a break. Joan’s own self confidence to exercise and balance has improved, achieved by completing the various balance and strength exercises prescribed to her.

Everybody Healthy member’s Joan and Ken Emberton shared:

“The improvements we have seen to our health since starting the programme have been immense. We have benefited by doing the Good Boost programme, the exercise’s prescribed within the water have meant our mobility is a lot better with less pain.”

Ken began the programme due to difficulty walking and needed the use of two walking sticks to support him, now those sticks have gone! He is able to walk with reduced arthritic pain, has greater stamina resulting in Ken being able to walk further and enjoy gardening without struggling.

Joan and Ken Emberton continued:

“As the Good Boost sessions are only 30-45 minutes, this has meant we have manged to swim afterwards or have been able to attend the Move To Improve exercise classes. All the Instructors are knowledgeable and friendly making our experience coming to Crewe Lifestyle Centre an enjoyable one and we would highly recommend the programme”.
