Congratulations to Amy who has completed Everybody’s 12-week
Adult Exercise Referral programme, at Congleton Leisure Centre, with Specialist Health Advisor Victoria Clarke. Amy was referred to Everybody to improve her mental health and her fitness by increasing her physical activity levels.

Before staring Everybody’s 12-week Adult Exercise Referral programme, Amy was not taking part in any exercise other than walking and not achieving the government recommended activity guidelines. However since taking part, her mental health and fitness has improved and she has also improved her self-confidence, feeling more positive overall about her wellbeing.

Specialist Health Advisor Victoria Clarke shared:

“Amy has done amazingly well and has been a pleasure to work with throughout the 12 weeks. At the beginning, she was not very confident about exercising and not knowing what to do in the gym. But since starting her self-confidence has improved and she is knowledgeable on how to exercise in the gym. I have seen her mental health improve throughout the programme. She now has a more positive outlook and motivated to continue exercising.  I am glad it has made a difference to her health both physically and mentally.”

Amy had this to share about her experience on the programme:

“I got involved in Everybody’s programme to improve my mental health. Before starting the programme, I was scared of using the gym and not confident in knowing what to do when using the weights or machines. Since starting, my health and fitness is a lot better and much improved. I’m feeling more confident using the equipment and know what I can do in the gym, following an exercise programme.

Research has shown that physical activity can have a positive effect on a wide range of long term health conditions. Increasing your physical activity can help to reduce blood pressure, weight maintenance or loss, improve lung health and mental wellbeing, besides many other benefits.

Amy continued:

“Everybody’s 12-week Adult Exercise Referral programme has made a huge difference, it has built my confidence and feeling a lot better physically and mentally. I enjoyed the flexibility and freedom of the programme. The weekly reviews with Victoria motivated me by setting goals and being more focused. I have enjoyed exercising again and using the gym”.
