Everybody Health & Leisure celebrates opening of new gym at Macclesfield Leisure Centre with VIP Event
On Tuesday 17th December the team at Everybody Health & Leisure welcomed a select few people into their new gym at Macclesfield Leisure Centre for an exclusive sneak peek at their state of the art new fitness space.
Stakeholders from all levels of the charity and its partners trialled the new equipment, alongside current and prospective members.
The combined investment of over £0.5 Million in the gym comes as part of a wider investment package that the charity and Cheshire East Council has committed to in Macclesfield. Everybody Health & Leisure are preparing to open a dual-purpose facility in the town centre offering personal training, limited gym access and the delivery of public health programmes through the recently won One You contract. They have also taken on the operation of the Café in West Park, to keep this much-loved community asset open for the residents of the town.
Speaking at the opening event, Terry, local Macclesfield resident shared:
“ My initial thoughts of the gym are really good, it has a great range of Technogym equipment. I’m 75 now and come 3 to 4 times a week, it gets you out and you feel better afterwards for staying active.”
Thomas Barton, CEO of Everybody Health & Leisure said, ‘It is with great pride that we open this new gym in the Leisure Centre at Macclesfield. We are committed to investing our time and expertise into providing the very best facilities to our members and the residents of the borough. This high spec space in Macclesfield is proof of what can be achieved with the right planning and the right funding, and we feel that we have created something here that we can offer our members that could rival commercial gyms with much higher price points.“
Councillor Liz Braithwaite, vice chair of Cheshire East Council’s environment and communities committee, said: “The council is committed to investing in its leisure centres so that we can continue to offer our residents modern and well-equipped facilities that support their health and wellbeing.
“These improvements at Macclesfield Leisure Centre are part of a wider package of ‘invest to save’ works agreed by the council as part of the approved outcomes of its recent Strategic Leisure Review. The investment is targeted at sites where service demand is greatest,
“I look forward to further investment being made at other sites across the borough in the coming months.” Members at Macclesfield can expect a further phase of improvement works, which will see upgrades to the gym changing rooms and ground floor changing rooms, to be completed by February 2025.
