Holmes Chapel Community Centre: A Haven for New Parents and Toddlers

Macclesfield Leisure Centre recently hosted a social Pickleball Festival, bringing together players from different Pickleball Social sessions for a day of fun, friendly competition, and community spirit.
Players entered individually and were randomly paired into 12 teams, each playing 11 games in a round-robin format, 66 games in total! The event was all about celebrating the sport they all love while getting to know fellow players from across our sessions.
To highlight the day’s positive atmosphere, four Sportsmanship Medals were awarded to players who best embodied the festival’s values of encouragement, teamwork, and all-round good vibes.
The event supported by some of our fantastic volunteers, who are part of the Everybody Health and Leisure volunteer programme. One of those volunteers, John, who also leads a regular Pickleball session, shared that “it was great to meet up with fellow volunteers. The players I know had a brilliant time, and the ones I got to know said it was a brilliant concept and hugely enjoyed themselves.”
Penny, one of the players echoed that sentiment; “Such good fun yesterday… from start to finish the event was extremely well coordinated… I look forward to the next one.”
Another player Shelagh also said; “I thought it was brilliant, nice atmosphere, there were some different skills sets, but everyone mingled nicely.“
After the games, everyone gathered for a buffet provided by Taste for Life Café, offering a perfect chance to relax, chat, and celebrate the day together.
And while the event was all about fun, we couldn’t resist a little recognition—medals and a trophy were awarded to the top 3 scoring teams. No pressure to defend the title next time…we’re already excited for the next one!
