The Macclesfield branch of the MS Society has recently launched a new ‘Activity Hub’ at Macclesfield Leisure Centre to encourage people affected by MS to get back into sport and healthy recreation.
The MS society has been operating out of Macclesfield Leisure Centre for a number of years with fitness classes, however the Activity Hub provides something a little different. Over 40 people now attend the weekly Activity Hub which now gives them more variety in activities including access to the fitness suite, swimming, walking football and the neuro-physio hub. Everybody specialist coaches and fitness instructors deliver the activity sessions and are on hand for advice and support to all those in attendance. The day also ends with a coffee in the Pickle Jar giving those who have attended the chance to socialise, offer support to one another and relax.
The Macclesfield Branch has around 280 members and serves the communities of Macclesfield, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Congleton, New Mills and their outlying areas.
Their objective is to help anyone whose life is affected by MS, including carers, family and friends who are also able to join in with the activities and socialise.
