Judith Goodwin, one of our ASA Level 2 Learn To Swim Scheme Instructors who works at both Macclesfield and Congleton Leisure Centre has recently received the “Swim England Swimming Teacher of the Year” award at the Swim England National Awards, held in Birmingham.
Judith has worked for Everybody Sport and Recreation for over 10 years and her approach to her swimming lessons is exceptional; making sure each lesson is as enjoyable as the last.
Every lesson Judith delivers is packed full of fun and encouraging exercises, with a strong games based approach. As a result Judith has been able to provide a platform for young learners to acquire the essential life skill of Swimming, in a way that makes the swimmers want to keep coming back for more.
Judith will regularly theme her swimming lessons to co-inside with events throughout the year, such as the Tour De France, Halloween, Easter, and Children in Need. She will also attend lessons in fancy dress and encourage the other teachers to get involved too. In doing so, Judith encourages the development of her fellow teachers with good practices and is an inspirational mentor.
Each lesson Judith delivers will showcase a use of a wide a range teaching styles which adapt to each learners needs. Judith delivers amazing Duckling lessons, where she also teaches the young children using a games related approach, and even singing songs
She has built a very strong rapport with all parents, children and colleagues. The children will always have smiles on their faces and are very sad to leave when it comes to the end of the lesson.
When new swimming teachers start, Judith is an exceptional mentor providing support and advice to them. She is enjoys motivating and encouraging the team, which in turn helps raise standards through her infectious approach.”
