Nathan Moghaddam, a police officer for Cheshire, recently embarked on a fitness journey to compete in the 2019 Police Sports UK – and compete as a swimmer. Nathan joined Everybody at Crewe Lifestyle Centre to begin his training for the event. He joined in 2017, and set the 2019 event as his goal. Nathan trained by himself for well over 6 months, improving his strength and stamina.
He reached a point in his own training where he felt he couldn’t progress anymore, and needed support from others. Nathan was introduced to personal trainer Mitch Lawrence and swim teacher Richard Chadwick, they discussed Nathans goals and set up training plans as well as personal training sessions with both – with Mitch helping on dry side and with nutrition plans, and Richard focusing on the swimming. Nathan started training with Mitch and Richard in December 2018.
Nathan said, “They both ensured I had personal training sessions with them to keep a check on the progress I was making and to ensure the training was working for the goal being sought and if not changing it to make sure it was most effective.”
In the weeks leading upto the PSUK nationals both Richard and Mitch advised him about techniques and nutrition to use on race day to ensure he got the most from himself and to reduce fatigue and injury.
Mitch and Richard created a mock meet for Nathan to ensure he was as prepared as possible for the event.
Then it was competition time… Nathan travelled down to Guildford in April to compete at the Police Sport UK Nationals.
Nathan did amazingly at the event and came home with 4 personal bests out of 4! Everyone at Everybody is delighted for Nathan and so proud of what he has achieved – for all his effort he was awarded member of the month for April!
Speaking on why he chose Everybody Sport and Recreation to achieve his goals he said,
“My decision to train at Crewe was due to the fantastic opportunities available at the centre the pool is really well laid out and due to the amount of space in the pool I was able to get in and train without any issues with plenty of public sessions for me to work my training in around my shifts, the gym at the centre has fantastic kit inside it offering a multitude of options for giving a diverse training programme so that it complements the swimming training and helps me to progress in the water.
“The staff at Crewe were fantastic in addition to Richard and Mitch, the lifeguards, front desk staff, café staff and management were all really helpful and always happy to help. Everybody Leisure have been a fantastic company to train with and I look forward to continuing my training at Everybody centres in the coming months”
Nathan’s aim is to compete in the 2020 national championships and receive a call up to the GB Police team! We can’t wait to see what’s next for Nathan and will support him all the way – congratulations to Nathan on his achievements.
