PizzaPizza

Add a taste of Italy to your mealtimes – this delicious pizza is quick to make. Add lots of vegetables to get your 5 a day!

PREP TIME: 20 mins
COOKING TIME: 10 mins
SERVES: 4 portions

Ingredients
• 300g strong bread flour
• 1 tsp of ‘quick’ yeast
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 3 tbsp passata (45ml)
• 1 dssp tomato puree
• ½ tsp dried basil
• ½ – 1 garlic clove, crushed.

Your choice of toppings: grated cheese, tinned tuna, pitted olives, sweetcorn, pieces of ham or salami, sliced pepper, sliced mushrooms, sliced cherry tomatoes.

Method
1. Preheat your oven to 240C/fan 220C/gas 8.
2. Line pizza tray with parchment.
3. Mix the flour, salt and yeast in a bowl.
4. Stir in 200ml warm water and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to make dough.
5. Tip dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 mins until smooth.
6. Cut dough in half: one half for the pizza base and the other for dough balls.
7. Roll out your pizza base to fit tray.
8. Make tomato sauce by mixing together the passata, dried basil and crushed garlic.
9. Prepare toppings.

10. Wipe chopping mat and tidy work area.
11. Layer the pizza base with your favourite toppings starting first with a tomato sauce.
12. Bake for 8-10 minutes until crisp.

Simple Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 garlic clove, finely chopped or crushed
• 400ml passata
• 2 tbsp tomato puree
• 1 tsp oregano
• Pinch of freshly ground pepper

Heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the garlic for a minute. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered, so that the liquid reduces, for about 10 mins until the sauce is thick enough to cling to the pizza dough base.
