Everybody Sport and Recreation has joined Dementia Action Alliance as one of over 1400 organisations UK wide working together to transform the lives of people with dementia.
A one hour training and information session took place at Crewe Swimming Pool on Monday 14th July with 18 employees of the Everybody Sport and Recreation Trust.
The training session taught five important messages about dementia and how to use these to put improvements in place within an organisation to suit the needs of the service user.
Keith Rogers, Sport and Play Development Officer at Everybody Sport and Recreation commented,
“Awareness of Dementia is important for our staff but it is how we put our knowledge into action and adapt our organisation to the needs of our community.
The session allowed us to become Dementia Friends, understand the condition better and help those who need support when accessing Everybody services.”
The focus of becoming a Dementia Friend and joining the Dementia Action Alliance is not about volunteering or fundraising but putting actions in place so we are able to become a dementia-friendly community.
The trust and its staff will now develop an action plan to provide more support to those with dementia and their carer’s.
