Sandbach members top the table in fitness challenge
During February and March, customers from Everybody Sport and Recreation took part in a double up fitness challenge with the hope of winning a brand new Fitbit Charge HR fitness tracker!
Everybody set customers the challenge to partner up with a friend, family member or colleague to GYM, SWIM, RUN or PLAY their way to fitness during the two month period. The duo who made the most visits to their local leisure centre were then in with a chance of winning the Fitbit prize. Customers from all over Cheshire East took part, with entrants recording their visits on activity sheets in Everybody Leisure Centres.
Jayne Sharp, 49 & Lorraine Connelly, 58 both from Sandbach managed to make the most workout visits together at their local Sandbach Leisure Centre.
The pair visited the centre for early morning swimming sessions and group fitness classes including Pilates, Aquafit, PiYo and Kettlercise.
Jayne who is a keen Hockey player for Sandbach Hockey Club said the challenge was perfect for her competitive nature and the incentive of a prize is what kept her going again and again,
“I have always been quite active and I am a member of Sandbach Hockey Club, which you can say has instilled a competitive streak in me. I really enjoy attending the classes at Sandbach Leisure Centre, it is like we are working out as a team and they keep me motivated. As soon as I heard about the challenge I knew I had to have a go but didn’t think we would win against all the other sites in Cheshire East! I can’t wait to try out my new Fitbit, it let’s me set goals and challenges so I am excited to see the results after my regular workouts.”
Lorraine admits she isn’t as competitive as Jayne but the challenge really inspired her to increase her usual activity each week with encouragement from other members and her workout partner.
“Jayne is always the one to encourage me to come and try out a new class and make sure I stick to my routine each week. We have so much fun working out together and seeing other members too. I really enjoy our early morning swims and classes such as pilates so it didn’t take much persuasion to join the double up challenge, especially with the chance of winning a prize!
I hope we can also be an inspiration to women in Cheshire, whatever age you are or whatever your ability it is important to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle.”
Both Jayne and Lorraine have been able to keep up the good work and have continued to workout together and individually since the double up challenge.
Fitness challenges are being run throughout the year at Everybody leisure facilities across Cheshire East. A range of membership packages are available to suit you giving you access to top of the range fitness suites, swimming pools and group fitness classes.
