What’s coming to Nantwich Leisure Centre?
Nantwich Leisure Centre will benefit from a £2.1 million investment and we are delighted to tell you, the first phase of the redevelopment project is now set to begin in May.
An extended gym a brand-new Group Cycling Studio, one of the key suggestions by our Nantwich members in our annual surveys.
The centre will also be transformed with a new social area including a Taste for Life Café and a larger, modern reception area. Planning permission has been received for the extension at Nantwich Pool and the first building phase is due to commence in early May for completion by the end of the year.
A second phase to the project will include the changing provision and access to the Outdoor Pool, to enhance the customer experience for members and tourists alike.
The name of the newly redeveloped centre will be ‘Nantwich Leisure Centre’ which we are sure you will agree, better reflects the improved facilities at the site and what it will have to offer our members.
Visit our social media page for updates on the project.
Important Changes- From Wednesday 26th May
We are so excited for the work to start at Nantwich Leisure Centre, to do this, we have had to make some temporary changes to the entrance of the facility whilst work is taking place. Check out our map below which outlines the new temporary entrance and exit of the facility which will be in place from Wednesday 26th May.
Outdoor Pool Update
The Outdoor Swimming Pool at Nantwich has also undergone some improvement works recently, normally the pool tank is painted each year and now benefits from being fully tiled!
The much loved Outdoor Brine Pool is now open, check out our website and social media page for more information, booking your swim session for our Outdoor Pool is required before visiting and can be done online!
Will the centre remain open throughout the building work?
It is our aim, that the centre will always remain open throughout the project. On occasions, we will be required to close aspects of our service/building to allow the contractors to complete the work. Any closures will be planned with sufficient customer notice
How will I enter and exit the building?
As part of the project, a new entrance is being built. A new temporary entrance / exit to the building will be installed for all our users. This temporary exit will be located on Wall Lane. Temporary signage will be installed outside the centre to direct all customers to the new entrance/exit. Check out our map above which outlines the new temporary entrance and exit of the facility which will be in place from Wednesday 26th May.
What provisions have been made for the security of bikes?
The bike rack will be moved and positioned beside the new temporary entrance located on Wall Lane.
Will the building work impact my swimming and/or swimming lessons?
There is no work planned for the pool hall and it shouldn’t impact on swimming. However, part of the project is the expansion of the Green Zone Changing Rooms into the old outdoor changing rooms, which may disrupt our swimmers when using the changing rooms. This impact will be very limited.
Will the building work impact my gym or class session?
Part of the building work will include the fitness suite closing for a short period to enable us to merge the new build with the current room. This will also include the installation of the new Technogym equipment. We anticipate that this will be a short closure and closer to the completion date. All members will be able to use the gym facilities at Barony Sports Complex during the short closure.
For our fitness class users, at this moment in time, we anticipate that all classes will be running throughout the building work.
Are there any temporary changes inside the facility or just the entrance?
At this moment in time, we don’t anticipate any major changes to inside of the building that will impact customers other than with the entrance and green zone. However, with any building project, things are subject to change. We will endeavour to ensure all our customers are updated with any forthcoming changes that may occur.
How long will the building work take?
The project at Nantwich Pool should take 32 weeks for completion. It is planned that the work will be completed by the Winter 2021.
