Nordic Walking Leaders receive the Everybody Staff Award: Volunteer of the Year

By Everybody Sport January 14, 2016

Diana & Lorraine have made a huge contribution to the Everybody Trust, the local and wider community by Volunteering to providing regular Nordic Walks, in which people can come along and have a chat with a friendly face, enjoy the outdoors and have a warm drink and chat at the end.Diana Lorraine - Volunteers of the Year 2015

Diana & Lorraine have provided a walk every week since the end of 2012 for Nordic Walkers and between them Diana & Lorraine have now clocked up a massive 587 hours of volunteer Nordic Walking, via taster sessions, technique courses, and regular walks.

The regular weekly walks that these Volunteers deliver some weeks have 16+ people attending which is a great achievement for them. This is mostly due to the fact they have never cancelled a walk over the past 2 years by them working together to book holidays in with each other so that one is always able to cover the walk on their own.

Christine Dodgeson (Regular Nordic Walker) Says “I cannot praise Diana and Lorraine enough for the time, patience and dedication they put into their roles.  They make everyone feel welcome, no matter what their ability level, and the walks are well-planned and a fun way to enjoy the countryside and the fresh air whilst gaining the health benefits of exercise.”

Nordic walking is the fastest growing fitness activity in the world with over 10 million enthusiasts now regularly taking part in what was originally used by super fit cross country skiers as a way to stay fit during the summer and winter months. At Everybody we have qualified nordic walking instructors to lead you on exciting trails and landscapes. Find out more about the types of courses we offer and how to get started!

Diana and Lorraine were nominated for the first Everybody Staff Awards where staff can recognise colleagues all year round through our Raising the Bar scheme. Other awards were given out such as Employee of the Year, Team of the Year, Manager of the Year, Special Recognition and many more.
