What is our Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation Programme?

The Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation Programme is a structured exercise programme for anyone having or recovering from cancer, delivered by our Level 4 Specialist Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors.

Programme benefits:

  • Help’s to reduce impact of treatments and side effects
  • Improved strength, fitness and mobility
  • Helps with weight management
  • Increases energy levels and reduces of fatigue
  • Helps improve wellbeing and mood

Evidence shows that actively improving your physical and mental health can help you recover more quickly from surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy and reduce the chance of further problems during and after your treatment, as well as many other benefits.

You will receive:

  • A personal consultation with one of our Specialist Cancer Rehabilitation Exercise Instructors
  • Exploration of physical activity opportunities that match your needs and preferences and a tailored programme designed to improve physical strength, mobility, confidence and quality of life
  • A safe, supportive, and motivating environment to exercise
  • Exercise delivered individually or in a group setting, providing peer support and encouragement, including led gym sessions and studio circuit classes. Wider activities also available including Wellbeing Walks and Swimming
  • Regular follow ups and ongoing support from our Specialist Instructors

Am I eligible?

To join the programme a referral is required by your Cancer Nurse Specialist, GP, MacMillan or local Hospice.

How much do classes cost?

From 1st April 2024, the cost of classes is £4.20 per session or you can join the Exercise Referral Scheme £31.25 for 12 weeks.
