Get back into exercise and join our brand new 6 week programme ESCAPE-pain. ESCAPE-pain for backs is a rehabilitation programme designed to help reduce pain and disability for people with chronic back pain through education and exercise.

The programme aims to:

  • Reduce pain. Although its important to note the programme will not cure nor eliminate pain completely for some but you will see improvements
  • Improve physical function which will allow you to do more normal everyday activities like walking and house work
  • Improve self confidence and reduce depression and frustration that people with chronic pain often feel

After completing the 6 week programme you will be able to:

  • Carry out normal activities
  • Manage your symptoms better
  • Be more active
  • Continuation of exercise

What will you get as part of the classes?

  • Delivered by specialist lower back Rehab Instructor
  • Attend two classes a week for 6 weeks
  • Weekly educational discussions on self management and coping strategies
  • Weekly circuit style exercise class, individualised and progressive to suit your needs
  • On completing the programme the opportunity to join our 12 week exercise referral scheme, to continue exercises and aid progression.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • 18 years and over
  • No contraindications to exercise
  • At least 3 months or recurrent episodes of back pain
  • Identified as low or medium risk
  • Committed to taking part in x2 classes per week for 6 weeks
  • Independently mobile and able to participate in a group-based exercise programme with minimal supervision
