Poynton Leisure Centre member doesn’t let lockdown barriers get in the way of her fitness journey

By lucy lennon December 1, 2020

Poynton Leisure Centre member Yvonne Cowan is one of many members delighted to be back in the gym and swimming pool at Everybody Sport and Recreation centres. Yvonne made the most of their online offer and is feeling super healthy and strong. She has been a member for 5 years and credits Everybody for her love of all thing’s fitness!

When discussing some of the benefits she’s seen since attending, Yvonne commented,

I’ve seen many -both physically and mentally. I’m in great shape, I’m strong and my weight is healthy. I love the idea of training with other people, the motivation and social aspect of being amongst like-minded people. It’s proven that exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety (particularly during these very uncertain times) and aids good sleep. I sleep very well!”

It was important for Yvonne to keep up with her routine during lockdown and she was innovative in using some of her household items to continue exercising. She took part in a range of Everybody’s free online live classes, including Core, Legs Bums and Tums, Hatha Yoga and so many more! She claimed that the beauty of the Member Zone was that you could do the classes live or later at your convenience and thought it was brilliant!

Yvonne was slightly nervous about coming back but felt extremely reassured once she returned! Discussing her return she said,

Brilliant, great effort by all concerned. Great signage, clear information about moving around the centre. Reduced numbers in classes and swimming makes it feel very safe. It’s very clean with good provision for sanitation stations throughout the centre.

She uses Everybody for a range of exercise and couldn’t pick her favourite activity, saying

I enjoy them all, in particular swimming, because the pool is very clean and never busy. I love body pump classes as I  enjoy working out with others and the music is very motivational. I enjoy the RPM and group cycling as I am a road cyclist and find the classes compliment my outdoor cycling, particularly in the winter.”

Everybody Sport and Recreation have introduced a range of procedures to ensure that all of their facilities are COVID-19 safe whilst still offering members and users an enjoyable and exciting health and fitness experience.
