Member benefits from water-based rehabilitation at Congleton Leisure Centre post hip replacement
Everybody Health & Leisure member, Jane Gaultier completed Everybody’s 12-week Good Boost programme with Specialist Health Advisor Victoria, at Congleton Leisure Centre.
Here’s what Jane Gaultier, Everybody Healthy member, shared about her experience:
“I initially started swimming at Congleton Leisure Centre as I was trying to postpone having a hip replacement. The reception team were very proactive and explained Everybody’s Health programmes available including the 12 week Good Boost programme. Specialist Health Advisor Victoria supported me using the tablet in the pool, taking into consideration my hip situation. Joining the programme has helped me before and after my operation enabling me to get back in the water 6 weeks after my operation whilst I was still feeling vulnerable walking.”
Good Boost is a water-based rehabilitation programme designed to be fun and beneficial for people with a range of musculoskeletal conditions. This includes tablet computers and artificial intelligence to give you a personalised aqua workout designed to improve your mobility, balance and fitness.
Jane continued:
“The water gives you so much confidence in your balance as the water supports you and you can do so much more in the water. It’s made such a difference to the speed of my recovery doing the 45-minute exercise programme 3 times a week. It has been lovely being part of a group who are in similar circumstances. Victoria and Jodie lead the Good Boost classes and create a fun, friendly environment.”
Victoria Clarke, Specialist Health Advisor at Everybody Health & Leisure shared:
“Jane has been very dedicated to attend the Good boost sessions on a weekly basis during the 12 week Good Boost programme. I’m glad she has found the sessions beneficial for her recovery after having a hip replacement. She has been a pleasure to work with and I am happy that she is going to carry on attending the sessions and exercising in the long term to improve her overall health and fitness.”
Good Boost classes take place in Everybody’s swimming pools, rather than a specifically designed hydrotherapy pool, making it much more accessible than traditional aqua rehab sessions.
