Everybody Healthy Service Turns Members Fitness Around Post Heart Surgery
Congratulations to Everybody Healthy member Peter for completing the Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV programme at Congleton Leisure Centre, with Specialist Health Advisor Victoria Clarke. Peter got involved after completing the Phase III NHS Cardiac Rehabilitation sessions after having an aortic valve replacement and bypass surgery.
Since taking part in Everybody’s health programme, Peter has achieved his goals including, weight loss and improved cardiovascular fitness and strength. He’s now feeling more confident about exercising after his surgery and attends the gym 2-3 days per week alongside daily walks.
Peter shared his experience on Everybody’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV programme:
“Following major surgery, I was invited to attend the rehab course to improve my recovery. Before surgery I was limited to small walks and no strenuous exercise. I followed the good instructors and assistance from the Everybody team, I am now doing three gym sessions per week and walking twice a week in the Derbyshire countryside. The rehabilitation course at Congleton Leisure Centre has been a great help in reaching my previous fitness levels. The Everybody Healthy team have been great in their support and assistance in attaining my goals and aiding my recovery.”
Specialist Health Advisor Victoria Clarke at Everybody Health & Leisure, shared:
“Peter has done amazingly well during the 12 week programme. I have seen his confidence and fitness improve significantly since starting. He has worked so hard and has been dedicated to coming to the gym on a weekly basis and attending his reviews. He is now back to his previous fitness levels prior to surgery. Well done, Peter.”
Everybody’s programme reinforces positive lifestyle changes and supports participation in becoming active and healthy in a friendly and safe environment. Their classes are led by fully qualified Cardiac Rehab Specialist Exercise Instructors, who have undergone extensive training through BACPR (British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation).
