Firstly, why should I choose an apprenticeship at Everybody?

Apprenticeships allow you to learn as you earn! You can gain nationally recognised qualifications and valuable experience – and get paid whilst you do it.

Our award-winning apprentice program will put you on the path to an exciting career.   By joining us this September, you’ll be part of our 7th cohort of apprentices since we set up our Everybody Academy in 2015.  We’ve developed over 40 apprentices, supporting them to gain valuable skills and experience and continue their development with us here at Everybody long after completing their apprenticeships; we’re a growing organisation with ambitious plans for the future and you’re guaranteed a permanent role with us once you’ve successfully achieved your apprenticeship.

What would my future prospects look like?

There’s a wide variety of careers an HR apprenticeship can lead you towards.  Some of the examples include: HR and Payroll administrators, System Administrators, Payroll Supervisor, HR Business Partner, HR Manager, Learning & Development roles, Business Development roles, Recruitment Consultant and many more.

About the role

Based in our head office in Holmes Chapel, our HR Apprenticeship is perfect for a conscientious and reliable people person with strong organisation, communication and IT skills.

You’ll need to be interested in people, the world of work and how people make organisations succeed – part of what we do in HR is to help create a positive culture and working environment where people can thrive in their roles from recruitment through to retirement.

Through the apprenticeship you’ll gain first-hand experience of a wide range of administrative, business and management skills, with a focus on learning how people make a business flourish.

What will I learn through the apprenticeship?

The apprenticeship will give you fantastic knowledge and experience in key functions of Human Resources, including;

  • An understanding of our business – what we do, why we do it and what we plan to achieve
  • About employment law & workplace policy
  • The role of HR and how people are key to organisational development and success
  • How to use HR & Payroll systems

What will I do?

Day to day you’ll help to support our hard-working staff, gaining knowledge across the whole HR function – including recruitment and payroll.   There’s a mix of proactive and reactive tasks involved so you’ll need to be flexible and able to remain calm under pressure.

Some of the things you’ll experience through this role include:

  • Helping staff with queries – for example password resets and general employment/workplace policy questions
  • Contacting new staff joining us to make sure everything’s ready for them to start, and contacting their previous employers for references
  • Helping with recruitment days and jobs fairs
  • Creating employment documents such as offer letters and contracts
  • Creating records on our HR & payroll system and keeping this up to date
  • Working with colleagues across HR. marketing & Taste for Life to help organise our annual staff awards event and other staff engagement activities
  • Supporting managers to carry out interviews, auditions, and assessment centres
  • Helping the business to run effectively and grow – for example designing job roles that enable us to deliver our future business plans
  • Writing short articles/updates for our monthly staff newsletter and other internal communications

The bigger picture...

Our people are the key to the success of our organisation – without them we wouldn’t be able to delivery our wonderful services.  In this role you’ll learn what’s involved in employing people – from working with people managers to recruit the right people, understanding the basics of payroll and supporting people’s wellbeing – and how HR is crucial to business performance – by helping create a great working environment and positive culture across the business, where staff can achieve their best every day; supporting our strong brand to attract both talent and customers.

You’ll need to be caring, honest and have good attention to detail, alongside a general interest in how people can make an organisation flourish.  If this is you, take a closer look at the role by following this link to the job profile and apprentice pack.
