Your guide to returning to swimming and swimming lessons here at Everybody Sport and Recreation

Our recent announcement outlined the plans in place to reopen leisure facilities and services in a phased approach.

We are  now delighted to confirm that Everybody Sport & Recreation are aiming to welcome back customers to our swimming pools from early September. We are focused on doing this in a safe, secure and viable manner. Services to be re-introduced in September will include Educational Swimming, the Learn to Swim Scheme, Public Swimming and Club Swimming.

In order to achieve this, we have devised a new pool programme for each facility. These programmes capture the very latest government guidance and include the relevant governing bodies recommended best practices. These are clearly difficult times and we will need to operate within certain constraints to keep everyone safe. Consequently, the service we are able to offer will look considerably different to the pre-COVID 19 offer, as you would expect.

To ensure that all customers can return to the pool in the safest possible way, in addition to the introduction of rigorous cleaning regimes, there are a number of operational changes that we have also introduced. These changes include the removal of dual access, reduced capacities, new one-way systems, a revised swimming etiquette, bookable swimming sessions, scheduled cleaning times, 15-minute breaks in between every session and much more. These essential changes will still provide all customers with an enjoyable swimming experience, along with the comfort and confidence that we have gone above and beyond to ensure the safest possible environment.

Below is in depth guidance of how our swimming pools and changing rooms will be operating ready for your return at your site,  public swimming guidance, video guides and more as well as Learn To Swim Scheme information. Please do take the time to familiarise yourself with the new procedure and guidance for your site before visiting the centre.

If you need any support or further information please contact us by calling your local leisure centre or email [email protected].

Important swimming updates and etiquette

All swimmers must book in advance via our online booking system

Following on from our statement on 10th September regarding online bookings for swimming we are pleased to announce we are ready to launch the new way of booking for swimming online.

The main benefits of the new way to book are:

  • Members – are now able to book for more than one person (including children under 3) without the additional participants needing an Everybody membership linked to the main bookers account
  • Non-members – to book casual swimming without needing to register for online bookings (whilst we are still able to capture the lead bookers contact details for NHS track and trace)

We will be continuing to develop our online bookings portal and hope to see even more improvements for our customers in the near future.

As a thank you for your patience during this time of development and to welcome more junior customers and families to our swimming pools we are introducing:

  • FREE swimming for Everybody members and their children (Members partners and children – up to 5 people including 2 adults and 3 children) until December 2020.
  •  We have also reduced the casual concessions price from £4.70 to £3.30 giving non-member concessions customers over 40% off their swimming booking until December 2020.
  • All Wildcard customers will still get the £1 discount off full price casual swimming too!
  • We are continuing to offer all of our learn to swim scheme customers on a direct debit membership free swimming. Please note: an online bookings account must be made using the details on the learn to swim membership to book to qualify for free swimming.

Bookable Swimming Sessions:

We have clarified our swimming sessions into three bookable categories:

  1. Lane swimming main pool (14+) – structured sessions for ages 14+ that consist of double width lanes to accommodate a range of swimmers. These sessions will offer a variety of slow, medium and fast paced lanes to capture all abilities. (Some fitness lane swims will be available late evenings for more advanced swimmers).
  2. Learner pool swimming (under 14’s) – At some of our facilities we will offer swimming sessions in the learner pool. These sessions will be run separately to the sessions in the main pool and must also be booked online. Learner pool sessions are open to all swimmers, but are aimed at parents/guardians who want to bring their toddlers.
  3. Family Swim (main and learner pools) – Family swimming sessions are unstructured sessions that are suitable for families attending with children. There will be no lanes for swimming lengths as the sessions are catered for leisure use.

Before you come swimming please make yourself aware of our new swimming covid-secure guidance and policies on this web page.

Important updates regarding our Pool Admission Policy:

  1. Until further notice, all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by at least one adult in the water and changing area during public swimming (learner pools) and family swimming sessions.
  2. Swimmers must be aged 14+ in order to attend a public swimming session (main pools) and/or lane swimming session.
  3. Swimmers of all ages can attend the family swimming sessions and any swimming sessions in the learner pool, provided that point no.1 is followed.
  4. Swimmers under the age of 14 must be supervised on a 1:2 ratio & and any children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by a parent on a 1:1 ratio, unless the child is wearing suitable flotation devices.
