Everybody Sport & Recreation is working with passionate volunteers, who have been trained by Walking for Health UK, to provide weekly short walks in the town centres and rural areas of Cheshire East to help local residents get out, increase activity levels and socialise in a safe environment.

Everybody Sport & Recreation are working in partnership with ‘Walking for Health UK’ which is an England-wide programme of health walk schemes that deliver free, regular led walks that are designed to support people get active and stay active.

These FREE short walks are accessible to all, particularly people who are looking to increase their activity.

The benefits of walking are fantastic and wide ranging:

  • Walking is an easy way to start and stay active
  • Physical Activity plays an important role in boosting mental wellbeing
  • Walking will improve the flexibility and strength of your joints, muscles and bones – and will reduce the risk of osteoporosis
  • It’s a chance to get active outdoors, socialise & meet new people
  • “By Joining a Walk group you’re sure to find a friend.” Walking in a group is a gentle & social way to get active and a nice way to meet new people

To book your place, click the link next to your preferred location and date. You will be re-directed to the Eventbrite website where you will be asked to complete your booking by entering your name and contact details, allowing us to contact you if the session details change or has been cancelled. Health Walks Covid-19 Guidance

This guidance has been created following the Ramblers and Government guidance, and is to be followed across all Everybody Sport and Recreation Health Walks. If you are unsure of any of the points please contact us via [email protected].

  • All walkers and walk leaders must undergo a self-assessment for any covid 19 symptoms. No one should leave home to participate in the walk if they, or someone they live with, has any of the following;
  1. A high temperature above 37.8°C
  2. A new, continuous cough
  3. A loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste
  • Pre booking is essential and must be completed prior to attendance. Anyone who arrives without booking will be turned away.
  • Avoid sharing lifts from those outside your household bubble.
  • While toilets will be available please be aware some facilities may not cater for everything in place previously (e.g. seating area, hot drinks etc)
  • Please arrive as close to the start time as possible to avoid groups gathering. There will be no indoor meet points.
  • Masks are to be worn for anyone entering the facility to use the toilet.
  • While it is intended to avoid congested areas please bring a mask so that this can be used if no alternative.
  • If you are bringing a bag or water bottle please ensure these are not shared.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available, however you may prefer to use your own, this will be encouraged before, during and after the walk.
  • Surfaces such as gates and stiles should be avoided. If contact is made then using sanitiser will be encouraged at this point.
  • Social distancing of 2 metres will be in place throughout.
  • Walk leaders will give an introduction at the start of the walk to ensure all procedures are followed and understood by all.
  • No handshakes before or after the sessions.

We want everyone who attends to enjoy the walks but also respect all others whilst doing so.
