What is Be Steady Be Safe?

Be Steady Be Safe is an evidenced based 12 week programme, consisting of weekly exercise classes suitable for people with poor strength, mobility and balance, wanting to reduce falls, increase social interaction and improve overall wellbeing.

At the end of the programme you will have the option to transfer into our follow-on classes, to aid progression.


The classes are held weekly and include:

  • Strength and balance exercise classes
  • Prescribed home exercises
  • Education of reducing falls risk factors
  • The programme consists of a set of leg muscle strengthening and balance retraining exercises, progressing in difficulty.
  • You will also receive a booklet with instructions for each exercise prescribed and issued ankle cuff weights in the class to provide resistance for the strengthening exercises

Am I eligible?

To access the programme you must be:

Aged 65 years plus

And have one or more of the following:

Fallen in the past 12 months

Poor balance and mobility


Be able to exercise independently unsupported of walking aid

12-week programme: £31.25 from 1st April 2024. 

Follow-on classes: £4.20 per session from 1st April 2024 and free of charge as part of our Everybody Healthy membership
